Muscle building golden rules When lifting weights always select the right amount of weight, typically you should be able to handle the load for ten to twelve repetitions. Working your muscles that many times build them, lifting something heavy a few times just makes it tired. As a rule if you are not able to lift a weight at least six times is too heavy, if you lift it more than twelve times increase the weight or you are not progressing. Always take 1 minute breaks in between sets. Start with 1 or two sets of the same exercise and grow from there, remember never exercise the same muscles in subsequent days.
